Velvet Rose of Red poem

roseAn admirable lesson in patience

stands the velvet rose outside my walkway,

planted in spring

during summer’s fiery fling

watered, tended and nurtured.

From the coolness of Fall,

to the green ripples of May

gently,

emerges an intelligent, red rose

this beauty in flight
surviving starless nights
depicts an elegant pose

Prize winning petals

screams adoring

this interesting rose
of velvet red,

with emerald green leaves
stands tall with ease

in a crystal vase
next to my bed.
